Mark 9:23
"Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all
things are possible to him that believeth."
That little word "If" that we use in our speaking everyday can be a negative or a positive out come for us. Christ gave a perfect example of this when he addressed the father of the child that was possessed with a dumb and deaf spirit. Christ put the question of if to him; "If thou canst believe." This question of belief was not of seeing something first to believe in it. Christ was tactically checking the strength of the mans faith when the father and his child cried out to Christ; "I believe; help thou mine unbelief."
What Christ done that day was not done to add to His growing fame; it was to show the power and glory of God. Christ felt the true repentance from their hearts and He knew there were no more "If's" in their hearts or minds. And once again all the on-lookers, believer's or nonbelievers witness the power of God.
In all our lives this little word "If'" is, was, or even now being used as a crutch when we speak of things. When Christ used this word if, he gave us the example of doubt that is held in the word "If" when we say it consciously or unconsciously. When it comes to faith there is no "If's"!! God did not say, "If" a savior would be born in the city of David! He said, "For unto you "is" born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:11). My answer to the question of "If" is this. Take the "f" the crutch away from the "I" and add have faith.
Amen!!
