1 Peter 4:16
"Yet if any man suffer as a Christian,
let him not be ashamed;"
To be "ashamed" of religion is to refuse to suffer on account of it. We are to regard our religion in every way honorable. We are not to be ashamed to be called a Christian; we are not to be ashamed of the doctrine taught by our religion. We most definitely are not to be ashamed of our Saviour whom we profess to love! And we are not to be ashamed to fellowship with those who are true Christians, though they may be poor and despised.
A man should be ashamed only of that which is wrong. He should glory in which is right. In today's world Christians are still subjected to open reproach by the world on account of their religion; and even now in the middle east People are being killed because they are Christians. The same Spirit that was required and enjoined the early Christians, is the same one that is within us today as believers. We are never to be ashamed of our religion. "For it is better if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing" (1 Peter 3:17).
Amen!!
