Will We

                                                Micah 6:8
"He hath showed thee, O man what is good,
and what doth the lord require of thee,
but to do justly, and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with thy God?

This verse tells us what God requires of man.  God desires men to have a genuine, heartfelt relationship with Him.  The purpose of  the observances in the Mosaic Law is summed up in (Hos 6:6)  "For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God."   "Mercy"  is translated from the Hebrew word (chesed) which is the closest Old Testament equivalent to the New Testament term  "Grace."  It puts the two commandment's which Jesus said were the most important: "To love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor as yourself.
Notice in the Commandment's of Jesus; it doesn't mention any thing about family; However the attitude and relationship of family is addressed by Christ in the New Testament.  Jesus taught His disciples and showed them how complete dedication to Him would bring about rejection from those close to them, often by those in one's family.  Jesus said in (Matt 10:35-37) "The person who places family ahead of his service for Christ is called  Unworthy."  Assurance has been given to us that it is worthwhile to trust completely in God; for He through Jesus Christ made a way for us to have eternal life.  Resting in Him is the only way to find peace when even one's own family forsakes him.  I ask you as you read the Scripture above do you see that God is not just telling us what He requires; but He is also asking the question; "Will We"
