Daniel 3:24-25
"Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake,
and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the
midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst
of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form
of the fourth is like the Son of God."
I'm sure that most of us has read or heard of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego and the Fiery Furnace. If you haven't set back and enjoy reading about our Almighty and Powerful God. If you have maybe you will see it like you have never seen it before. Let's start where Daniel went to his three friends, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions that they would desire mercies of The God of heaven concerning this secret: The King's Dream.
The secret was revealed unto Daniel in a night vision concerning Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The King was told the interpretation of his dream by Daniel. Then Daniel requested of the King to set his three Hebrew friends, with their new names given by The King, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego to be over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel set in the gate of the King.
Well the King builds an image of gold that was ninety feet tall and nine feet wide. The King made a decree: That any time the sound of a cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer and all kind of music you must fall down and worship the Golden Image. Wow! Old Nebuchadnezzar must have believed that the golden image could do something for him?
Being faithful to their God the three Hebrew men were caught not falling down and worshiping the golden image. Now remember Daniel told the king that in his dream the King himself was the head of the golden image, but the King wanted to be the whole thing! This is the second of three great attempts of man to institute a one-world religion. The first being the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11) and the last will take place in Jerusalem during the tribulation (Rev. 13).
The King required that every VIP in all the empire to assemble on a scheduled day. When dedication day arrived, an orchestra would be on hand. At the sound of music , all those that were assembled were commanded to fall down and worship the statue. Failure to comply would result in instant death by being thrown into a burning furnace. Everyone assembled probably could see this furnace and watch it belch forth it's yellow and orange flames in to the Babylonian sky. This was no doubt the most persuasive alter call of all time, bow or burn.
My friends, we will stop here today, but I want you to read the Scriptures below and study them, visualize yourself being assembled there as a VIP. Tomorrow we will view the Fiery Furnace in a way we probably never have.
Amen:
