The Attributes Of God (PT-3)

Jeremiah 23:24
"Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him?
saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth?
saith the LORD."

The fourth attribute is, God is infinite. God has no limitations. He is bounded only by His own nature and will. "And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:  And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart: But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?" (1 Kings 8:22,23,27).
The fifth attribute is, God is omnipresent. A. H. Strong defines this attribute as follows: "God, in the totality of His essence, without diffusion or expansion, multiplication or division, penetrates and fills the universe in all its parts." (Systematic Theology, P.279).
The omnipresent of God therefore means He is present everywhere with His whole being at the same time. The danger to avoid in rightly understanding this attribute is the error of pantheism, which says that the world is either Identical to God or an expression of God's nature, it comes from 'pan' meaning all, and 'theism', which means belief in God. So according to pantheism, God is every where and everything is God. This is false. Two aspects should be kept in mind as one studies the omnipresence of God.
    (1) God's immanence. This speaks of God being in the world, acting within and through His creation. (2) God's transcendence. This affirms that God is above and beyond His creation. "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee," (Ps. 139:7-12).  "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them,"  (Matt. 18:20).
Amen!

The Attributes Of God; (God Is Self Existent)

Exodus 3:14
"And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said,
Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,
I AM hath sent me unto you."

Reduced to it's simplest definition, an attribute of God is whatever God has in any way revealed as being true of Himself.  Now if an attribute is something true of God, it is something we can conceive as being true of him.  God being infinite, possess attributes about which we can know nothing. In the Divine being are attributes of which we know nothing and have no meaning for us, just as mercy and grace can have no personnel meaning to for Seraphim or Cherubim. These Holy beings may  know of these qualities in God but, unable to feel them sympathetically for the reason that they have
not sinned and do not call forth God's mercy and grace.
So there are other aspects of God's essential being which He has not revealed even to His ransom and Spirit-Filled children or even His Angels. They are known only by God Himself. Now we will consider some "21 attributes" or as some may call them " a perfection"  1. God is self-existent: We see this in our opening Scripture. God is simply saying with" staggering implications" that He exists because He exists. He is not dependent on anything or anyone for His thoughts. "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?" (Romans 11:33-34).  His will, "Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?" (Rom. 1:19). "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will," (Eph 1:5). His power, "But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased," (Ps. 115:3). His Counsel, "The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations, " (Ps. 33:10-11).
Amen!

The Attributes Of God (PT-2)

Psalm 50:12
"If I were hungry, I would not tell thee:
for the world is mine, and
the fulness thereof.

The second attribute of God is "self-sufficient." This attribute is closely related to the attribute of self-existence the attribute we talked about yesterday. However this attribute carries it a step further. This means God has never had in eternity past, or will He ever have a single need in the ages to come that His own divine nature has not already provided. "For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine," (Ps 50:10-11).
The third attribute of God is "God is eternal." This means God is absolutely free from time. In Him there is no past no future, but always one never-ending presents. God is neither conditioned or confined by time. "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them," (Deut. 33:27). "My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass. But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations," (Ps. 102:11-12).
During one of His dialogues with the wicked Pharisees, Jesus made reference to his attribute of eternity. Check out His declaration: "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad." Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?" (John 8:56-57).  I want you to look closely, He did not say, before Abraham was, I was," "But before Abraham was I am." "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am, " (John 8:58).
My Friends, before there were anything of existence God was there, and He has a never ending presents! "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God," (Ps. 90:2).
Amen!

Characteristics Of Evil Men

Jude 1:16
"These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts;
and their mouth speaketh great swelling words,
having men's persons in admiration
because of advantage."

Let's look at the characteristics of the evil men that Jude describes here. They are grumblers, for ever discontented with the life which God has allotted to them. They were as the discontented voices of the murmurers of the children of Israel against Moses as he led them through the wilderness (Ex. 15:24; Ex. 17:3). Its very sound describes the low mutter of resentful discontent which rose from the rebellious people. These wicked men in the time of Jude are the modern counterparts of the murmuring children of Israel in the desert, people full of sullen complaints against the guiding hand of God.
Jude paints us a picture of a man who can find something to grumble about in any situation. He can find some fault with the best of bargains, the kindest of deeds, the most complete of successes, the richest of good fortune. "But godliness with contentment is great gain." (1Tim 6:6); but the evil men are chronically discontented with life and with the place in life that God has given to them.
My Friends, There are few people more unpopular than chronic grumblers and all should know and remember that such grumbling is in its own way, an insult to God.
Amen!

Day Of Decision, Fiery Furnace (PT-2)

Daniel 3:20
"And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army
to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to
cast them into the burning fiery furnace."

Now all was set for the dedication day. All the people had gathered and the music sounded. At this time all was to fall and worship the statue. Well our three Hebrew friends stood tall during the "invitation," and therefore got reported to the King. The three young men were taken to Nebuchadnezzar, and offered a final chance to bow down. All three refused saying;  "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." (Dan. 3:17-18).
So the King commands that the furnace is to be heated seven times more than what it usually was. I'm sure the three young men were no doubt aware of the many excuses available to them for bowing down at this private meeting. For example: "Why not join in, we can't fight the system! Maybe if we cooperate with old Neb we can win him to Christ! He who runs away, lives to fight another day!"
But they stood tall and did not bow before The King or his statue of gold.
My friends that day in the lives of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are somewhat like our daily lives and a great lesson for us all. Sin is our shackle and we are bound to sin with one way to be free. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).
Let's compare the unbeliever that has turned Christ away, or just don't believe that there is a God, with the three young Hebrew men. "They went in the fiery furnace bound because they stood up for God, knowing in their heart that they would be burnt alive or delivered from the fire. To them there was no compromise." Now the unbeliever goes through each day facing a fire hotter than that fiery furnace because he don't believe in Jesus Christ and is still shackled by sin that we all were born in. In Both example there is a choice. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego chose God, but forced in to the fire and delivered by Jesus Christ
The unbeliever faces death and hell fire every day, his shackles are already on him and he would be cast in hell's fire the day of his death. No one is there to deliver him from the pits of hell, However he will meet Satan and his demons and spent eternity in hell with them. Now, I ask you, out of the two examples here, which one will you fall into?
Amen!

Day Of Decision; Fiery Furnace (PT-1)

Daniel 3:24-25
"Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake,
and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the
midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst
of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form
of the fourth is like the Son of God."

I'm sure that most of us has read or heard of  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego and the Fiery Furnace. If you haven't set back and enjoy reading about our Almighty and Powerful God. If you have maybe you will see it like you have never seen it before. Let's start where Daniel went to his three friends,  Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions that they would desire mercies of  The God of heaven concerning this secret: The King's Dream.
The secret was revealed unto Daniel in a night vision concerning Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The King was told the interpretation of his dream by Daniel. Then Daniel requested of the King to set his three Hebrew friends, with their new names given by The King, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego to be over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel set in the gate of the King.
Well the King builds an image of gold that was ninety feet tall and nine feet wide. The King made a decree: That any time the sound of a cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer and all kind of music you must fall down and worship the Golden Image. Wow! Old Nebuchadnezzar must have believed that the golden image could do something for him?
Being faithful to their God the three Hebrew men were caught not falling down and worshiping the golden image. Now remember Daniel told the king that in his dream the King himself was the head of the golden image, but the King wanted to be the whole thing!  This is the second of three great attempts of man to institute a one-world religion. The first being the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11) and the last will take place in Jerusalem during the tribulation (Rev. 13).
The King required that every VIP in all the empire to assemble on a scheduled day. When dedication day arrived, an orchestra would be on hand. At the sound of music , all those that were assembled were commanded to fall down and worship the statue. Failure to comply would result in instant death by being thrown into a burning furnace. Everyone assembled probably could see this furnace and watch it belch forth it's yellow and orange flames in to the Babylonian sky. This was no doubt the most persuasive alter call of all time, bow or burn.
My friends, we will stop here today, but I want you to read the Scriptures below and study them, visualize yourself being assembled there as a VIP. Tomorrow we will view the Fiery Furnace in a way we probably never have.
Amen:

What God Has Done He Can Do It Again

2 Peter 3:9
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance."

Peter does not hesitate to place the commandments of himself and the other Apostles of Jesus on a level with the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and he repeats his admonitions (reproof), because of the urgency of the crisis then threatening the Church. Apparently there was a well-grounded fear that the church would relax her attitude of expectancy and give in to the materialistic philosophy of that age and ours as well.
My Friends, Men argue just from the appearances of things, and especially from the regular routine of cause and effect. Sometimes we do not realize that, from time to time, there are the intrusion of the divine personal will into the course of history, introducing a higher set of laws and arresting the ordinary succession of events; as for instance, the Flood and the Miracles of Old Testament History. Why, then, "can't" the ordinary course of nature be broken in upon by the Second Advent, when the Lord shall gather His saints about Him and reign gloriously? What God has done He can do again! "There is a person and a will behind the slight veil of the present life."
Amen!

Who Are Just Escaping

2 Peter 2:12
"But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed,
speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall
utterly perish in their own corruption;"

There are two forms of evil here that characterize the last days: "The false and corrupt teaching of bad men, and the unbelief which denies the return of the Lord on the grounds of stability of the visible creation." There is no question here as to the title of the Lord, nor of redemption.
The description of these false teachers are just! They are slaves to their brute instincts. They are as abusive as they are ignorant. They destroy and will be destroyed. They feasted in broad daylight, instead of leading self disciplined and sober lives. With them, the very church feasts were occasions for self-indulgence. Their eyes never ceased from the sin against which the Lord warns us in, "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart," (Matt.5:28).
The will of man, is always poising itself between its knowledge of good and evil and its strong bias toward evil. Only the help of God can correct this. Let us “who are just escaping,” (2 Pet 2:18)
from the meshes of the world, beware lest we be caught in the nets of false teaching, which would drag us back into the evils of the worldly life. It is in our heart-felt union with the Lord Jesus Christ alone that we can be permanently secure.

Amen!

Everlasting Love

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life"

Today is Valentines Day and I'm sure we all know that don't we? We set this day aside to show love and appreciation to our spouses. So this one day we make or try to make it special for each other. Things are done that has never been done before. We buy Flowers, cards, balloons, and sometime a very expensive gift for the one we love.
But today I want to make This Valentines Day about Our Lord and Savior.  Jesus performed many miracles while He was with mankind. He gave them sight, He made them walk again, He healed them of their sickness and disease. Then one day, Jesus gave His Life for all, and carried the worlds sin to the Cross with Him; My Friends, that was and still is the day that love was shown  to the world.
Let me ask; Does your Lord or your Spouse only show you love on certain days. My answer to that is "NO"! Our Lord's Love is An Everlasting Love for us, and He shows it daily to us all. My Friends, for us to be faithful to our Lord and Savior, and our Spouse; Showing love and Passion should happen ever time we take a breath. When you truly show love, that spot on your heart that says "My Love For You Is An Everlasting Love;"  Our Face Will Glow and Our Hearts Will Pound with Pure Joy and Love.
Amen!

The Marred Belt

Jeremiah 13:10
"This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination
of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them,
and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle,
which is good for nothing."

There is reason to assume that this passage describes an actual event, not a mere vision or imaginary story. The time was prior to the final Babylonian attack. The event is the "Marred Belt." Now why would God have Jeremiah purchase a "linen belt, put it on, and make sure it gets no water on it, and then God tells Jeremiah to go hide it, (bury it) in a cleft of a rock at the Euphrates?
The instructions to Jeremiah are some what like a parable, and the reason for the marred belt was to give God's people a striking symbol, (a wake up call). Because God's people had their minds on everything but their God and they would not hear.
The linen belt, (girdle or sash) that God told Jeremiah to put upon his loins, symbolizes the people when they were more pure and less corrupted. When they shared his affection, when they cleaved unto Him and gave God praise and glory. Then God told Jeremiah not to put water on it, in a sense not to wash it or whiten it. He wanted Jeremiah to wear it as it was, to symbolize that God took His people just as they were; At God's mercy, without merits, rough, unwashed, unpolished. Then He buried it. Why? Because  as he wore it, it became soiled with sweat, and not to be washed, would rot much sooner. This symbolizes the state of the people, corrupt and filthy.
My Friends, The humiliation of the best produces the worst, and nothing more strikingly sets forth the condition to which those may sink who have abused the highest possibilities, than the condition of this marred and profitless belt (girdle). Let us beware! since capable of God’s best and highest, we are also liable to the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Amen!

Dusted Or Cleansed

Psalms 19:7
"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple."

David only had a very small part of the Scriptures, if a fragment, and that being the darkest and most historical portion, "be perfect;" what must the entire volume be? How much more perfect is the Bible which contains the clearest display of "Divine Love," and gives us a clear vision of "Redeeming Grace." There are no redundancies and no omissions in the Word of God or in the plan of Grace. So why do men try to paint this lily of the valley and try to gild this refined gold? The gospel is perfect in all aspects, and perfect as a whole. It is a crime to add to it, treason to alter it, and a felony to take from it.
The effect of the word of God is to turn the man to himself, to his God, and to holiness; and the turn or conversion is not outward alone, "it's the soul" is moved by the Spirit of God and renewed. The means of conversion of sinners , is The Gospel Of Jesus Christ. His Life, Death, and Resurrection, which is the Gift of God. The more closely we stay to it in our ministry the more likely we are to be more educated, and a stronger mouth piece for God.
It's God's Word and not man's comment on God's Word, that makes mighty souls in God's Army. When the law drives and the gospel draws, the action may be different but the end is one, for by God's Spirit the soul is made to yield, and cries, "Save me and I shall be saved."
My Friends, We must go on to prove its certainty by experience. The perfection of the gospel converts, but its sureness edifies; if we be edified, we must not stagger at the promise through unbelief, for a doubted gospel cannot make us wise, but truth of which we are assured will be our establishment.
Amen!

When God Calls Be There!

Exodus 24:12
"And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount,
and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law,
and commandments which I have written;
that thou mayest teach them."

In this passage we have four groups of people, let's say four concentric circles of people gathered around Divine Presence. in the outer circle, we have the people, Ex. 24:2; Ex.24:17. Next, we have the seventy elders, Ex. 24:9; Ex. 24:14; then we have Joshua, Ex.24:13; and lastly, Moses, Ex. 24:18.
These represent respectively, the unenlightened; those whose religious life is hindered by their excessive devotion to the flesh; then the few whose fellowship is liable to be interrupted by a call to war or another duty.. Then there is those who have been made nigh unto God in Jesus Christ our Lord, and have been baptized into the Holy Spirit. In which group would you be in?
My Friends, We are invited to draw nigh, let us act on the invitation, "Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;" (Heb. 10:19-20). There is always room at the top, and there we may stand, beholding, as in a glass, the glory of Lord. Notice that God said, Come up unto Me, (Ex. 24:1) He longs to have our love and faith. His delights are with the sons of men. At a great cost He has opened the door for us, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace, wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God," (Rom. 5:1-2).
My Friends, We need God, but God wants us, and therefore the construction of the Tabernacle is next on His list, so that He may dwell with man upon the New Earth.
Amen!

Faith Of Others

Luke 5:20
"And when he saw their faith, he said unto him,
Man, thy sins are forgiven thee."

What does this passage about forgiving sins mean? We must remember that sin was always connected to suffering in early Bible days. The sufferer often had even a morbid sense of sin. That's why Jesus began by telling this Paralytic man his sins were forgiven. Without that the man would never believe that he could be cured. This shows how the scribes and Pharisees were routed in belief.
They objected to Jesus claiming to extend forgiveness to the  Paralytic men. But their own arguments and assumptions were that the man was ill because he had sinned, and if he was cured that was proof that his sins were forgiven. Well needless to say, the outcome left the Pharisees speechless.
The wonderful thing is that here is a man who was saved by the faith of his friends. When Jesus saw their faith; that eager faith of those who stopped at nothing to bring their friend to Jesus and he received his cure.
My Friends, our faith can change other peoples lives. There is nothing like a warrior prayer chain. You and your "Faith," alone can change things in other peoples lives, Just Think Faith in The Gospel Of Jesus Christ Saved and Changed You"!
Amen!

Putting The Blame On God

James 1:13
"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:
for God cannot be tempted with evil,
neither tempteth he any man:"

All of us, at some time in our life has said these words "Please Lord don't tempt me you know I'm weak." And I'm sure, most of us that tempted God was rebuked by another believer.  That is what James is doing here, rebuking the man who puts the blame for temptation on God. God is holy, and without iniquity, nor does he delight in sin, but hates and abhors it; nor can he commit it, it is contrary to his nature.
Truthfully, no one can tempt another to sin, unless he is sinful himself, and delights in sin, and  those that commit it. Those who tempt others to sin cannot; without committing it themselves; and yet sinful men are still blaming God with their sins, and temptations as well,
God has tempted man but no temptations have never been based on sin. He tempted Abraham, to try his faith, love, and obedience to him; He tempted the Israelites in the wilderness, to try them and humble them, and prove what was in their hearts; and He tempted Job, and tried his faith and patience; and so He tempts and tries all his righteous ones, by afflictions, more or less. God never tempts or solicits anyone to sin. My Friends, let no man who is tempted to sin; Say, I am tempted of God because, "God tempts no man to sin."
Amen!

The Value Of Knowing

Matthew 24:42
"Watch therefore: for ye know not what
hour your Lord doth come."

Since the day and the hour of the coming of Christ are known to only God, then all life must be in constant preparation for His coming. To live without watchfulness invites disaster. A thief does not send a letter saying when he is going to burglarize a house; his principal weapon in his undertakings is surprise; therefore a homeowner who has valuables in his house must maintain a constant guard. But to get this picture right, we must remember that the watching of the Christian for the coming of Christ is not that of terror-stricken fear and shivering apprehension; it is the watching of eager expectation for the coming of "Glory and Joy."
The spirit which leads to disaster is the spirit which says there is plenty of time. It is that  comfortable delusion of man, that there is plenty of time to make things right with God before Christ returns. The most dangerous of all delusions is that there is plenty of time. The most dangerous day in a man's life is when he learns that there is such a word as tomorrow. There are things which must not be put off, for no man knows if for him tomorrow will ever come.
My Friends, what we must do is this, when Christ returns, He will find us doing no better and greater task than our duty, "Being Faithful and True To Him."
Amen!
