Christ Makes Fearless Men

                                        2 Timothy 1:7
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but
of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

The first thing that He would have us to know; is that Christ makes fearless men. God hath not given us the spirit of cowardice. Now, of course, courage or being timid are very large matters of temperament. But then, you know, the very purpose of the gospel is to mend temperaments, to restrain, and to stimulate, so as that the natural self becomes new in Christ, and the seeds of evil have no place to grow.
So while we have to admit that religion is not meant to destroy natural distinctions in character. We must also remember that we insufficiently grasp the intention of the gospel, which we say we believe unless we realize that it is meant to deal with the most deeply rooted defects in our character.  When you think of the possibilities of every life, and of the certainties of every life, and of what may come to any of us, at any time, and of what will come to all of us at an appointed time "death."
But then Paul comes in and says, "God hath not given us the spirit of fear." No, because He has given us the only thing that can exercise that demon. He has given us the good news of Himself, whereby His name becomes our dearest hope instead of our deepest doubt. He has given us the assurance of forgiveness and acceptance through Salvation in Jesus Christ.
        Amen!!

Overcomers

                                        John 16:32
"Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is ,now come, that
ye shall be scattered, every man to his own,
and shall leave me alone: and yet I am
not alone, because the Father is with me."

Are you beaten?  Do you feel like you are ready to throw in the towel?  Has the cold hands of defeat wrapped themselves around you?  Beaten! Beaten!  That is such a negative word to come out of the mouth of believers that know they live under grace. However; there is one way to take all the worries away.  Read the last chapter of the Bible first.
If the universal judgments in Matthew 24 stood without hope, the tribulation would be too much to bear. When we see the White Rider in Revelation 19, we can rejoice for we see the coming of our Lord.  "And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord of Lords (Rev. 19:16).
Jesus is the Overcomer with a capital "O," and we are the overcomers with a little "o."  "In the world ye shall have tribulation."  Without the last part of that sentence it would seem as if our lives would be filled with sadness.  Jesus said, "But be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).  So whenever you are discouraged, go to a quiet place and read again the final chapter of God's Holy Word.
        Amen!!

The Truth Upheld By The Church

                                     1 Timothy 3:16
                      "And without controversy great is
                              the mystery of Godliness:

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness." The truth is here called "the mystery of godliness." A mystery is that which, being concealed for a time is brought out of concealment by a revelation. It is something above our comprehension. For it is the mystery of godliness or piety. It is the mystery by which the Divine life is nourished in the soul. As religious beings, we need verity: "a state of being that encompasses an enduring truth."
We can only breathe freely in an element of mystery. All religions that have ever been have sought to provide for the appetite for the wonderful. And where there has not been found real mystery, there have been dark inventions (IE) dark Satanic religions.
My Friend, the mystery of godliness is Christ. he is God, who was made flesh, and was manifest in the flesh. God was pleased to manifest himself to man, by His own Son taking the nature of man. He was reproached as a sinner, and put to death as a malefactor, Christ was raised again by the Spirit, and so justified from the false charges that were charged against him.
Let us remember that God came in the flesh to take our sins, to redeem us from all iniquity. These doctrines we must be shown forth by the fruits of the Spirit in our lives.
        Amen!!

The Universal Law

                                        Ecclesiastes 7:22
"For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth
that thou thyself likewise has cursed others."

The appeal to a man’s own conscience is this.  The fact that we often speak ill of others should make us less open to take offense at what is said of ourselves, and prepared to expect unfavorable comments. The Lord has said, "Judge not, that ye be not judged." "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again" (Mat 7:1, Mat 7:2). This is the universal law.  "Who is he," I ask,, "that has not offended with his own tongue?"
It is not a sign of weakness to meet hostile treatment, by not striking back with the tongue; because within mercifully some things are more quickly dismissed from our hearts if we know our own misdemeanors against our neighbors. When we reflect what we have been towards others, we would be less concerned how others should be towards ourselves; "because the injustice of another avenges in us, what our conscience justly accuses in itself"

Counterfeit Is Taking Over Our Lives And Nation

                                         Proverbs 6:1
"My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if
thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger"

The "pledge," or security for payment, which, for example, David was to bring back from his brothers (1Sam. 17:18). So the word was used quite often in the primitive trade transactions of the early Israelite's. In the warnings against this surety-ship, in the Book of Proverbs, we may trace the influence of contact with the Phoenicians. The merchants of Tyre and Zidon seem to have discovered the value of credit as an element of wealth.
A man might obtain goods, or escape the pressure of a creditor at an inconvenient season, or obtain a loan on more favorable terms, by finding security. To give such security might be one of the kindest offices which one friend could render to another. Side by side, however, with a legitimate system of credit there sprang up, as in later times, a fraudulent counterfeit.
The word "counterfeit" has been in play for many centuries. It is not just money or products that have become counterfeit; it is also "people."  People have become so false with each other, and themselves that it has let Satan slide more and more counterfeit into this evil world. My friends, it's time that we battle this before our Country falls apart. Let's Put God in Charge of things from the Government to Individual House Holds!

Inside The Lord's House

                                            Psalm 36:8
"They shall be abundantly satisfied with the
fatness of thy house; and thou shalt them
drink of the river of thy pleasures."

Those who put their trust in God shall be received into His house. In the Lord's great house; we shall find a soul contenting store supplied to us as the result of living by faith in our Lord. God's believers there; shall find in sacred worship the richest spiritual food.  Amen!
Not only will there be the fruits of Eden to feed on, there will be the river of Paradise to drink from. God's everlasting love bears to us a constant and ample comfort, of which grace enables us to drink by faith. But the happiness given to the faithful, is that of God himself. We shall joy with the same joy as the Lord himself. "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full" (John 15:11)

The Invisible Hand

                                         Psalm 37:24
"Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand"

Though he fall: That is; though we are sometimes disappointed; though we are not always successful; though we may be unfortunate; yet this will not be our final ruin. Falling here does not refer to us falling into "sin," but into misfortune, disappointment, and calamities. This portrays a Christian that is walking along on a journey, who stumbles, and becomes weak in Spirit. A representation of one who is not always successful, but who finds disappointment spring up in his path.
It is by no power of our own that we recover, but it is because, even when we fall, we are held up by an invisible hand; "The Hand Of God."  God will not suffer one of His own to sink to utter ruin.

Be Not Insincere

                                          Zechariah 7:12
"Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone,
least they should hear the law, and the words
which the Lord of hosts hath sent in his
                                spirit by the former prophets;"

God's judgments' upon Israel for their sins, were written to warn all Christians, about our duties. For example when they had fasted, mourned and offered sacrifices for those seven years; they did not fast unto God! God ask, "did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?"  "And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?" (Zech. 7:5,6).
God was telling them, and Christians today; that keeping fasts was and is not a duty done for one's self.  But; that our duties were to do justly, show loving mercy, and tend to the public, faithfully  and live in peace with each other. My friends God is not saying once in a while and not just one particular thing. We are not under law, but we are under "His Grace" so if He tells us to do something, My friends that becomes our duty.
The Lord always hears the cry of the broken hearted. But, remember that sin in your heart will certainly spoil the success of prayer.

"God's Day"

                                          Zechariah 4:10
"For who hath despised the day of small
                                 things? for they shall rejoice,"

The day of small things is especially "God's Day" whose “strength is made perfect in weakness; who raised Joseph from the prison, David from the sheepfold, Daniel from slavery, and converted the world by the fishermen and the tent-maker. Than having Himself first become a Carpenter. "Great   Become little. That little became King of the Jews, and The Saviour of the World.
When small things happen in our lives, they are most likely to be the most joyful! To God, all things are small; no matter if it is a trial He gets us through, or a battle within ourselves, that He helps us to win. Listen my friends; no matter how small we feel on any day, remember; "The day Of Small Things Is God's Day,' He will make us strong in our weakness!

A Godly Shepherd

                                       Psalm 23:1
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

This passage is clearly the song for all people that has lost worldly comfort and security. The image of Christ as the Shepherd is an intimate personal one. When we read or recite this passage, we are not thinking of Christ as King, or even as a personal shield. We are purely thinking of Him as Our Shepherd who takes care of all the needs of His sheep. For we know that the Shepherd's ability is never doubted.
My friends God created Mother's, and inside them, He instilled all the traits of a  "godly shepherd."  Knowing that there is no one, or nothing that can take the place of God's Personal loving care of His children; God passes the care of children down to Mother's, until they are back in heaven with Him. There is no other place for a child to be except, In the arms of it's Mother, or in the arms of God.

A Power That Can Change Our Nation!

                                          1 Timothy 2:2
                     "For Kings, and for all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable
life in all godliness and honesty."

We are facing a clear and present danger in our generation. Our nation is in turmoil; it is unstable, full of pressures, and uncertainties. There is rioting in the streets!  Christian believers and businesses are under attack! The institutions which support our society's framework are being destroyed by legal Stupidity!
Our politicians seem to care for nothing, except their own self-interest or agendas which are contrary to God's laws!  The problems our beloved country faces seem so overwhelming that we wonder if there are any answers to the needs, troubles and tribulations we face.  I know where we can find the answer.  And that answer can be found in prayer.
God is looking for believers, that will stay on board and stay so connected with Him in prayer that He can unleash His power through us. It is a power to overcome any trial, any difficulty and any challenge our nation is experiencing.  It is a promise from God; waiting to be ask for.  It is a power that can change our nation and our world.

Learn To Be Content

                                         Philippians 4:11
"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I
have learned in whatsoever state I am,
                                     therewith to be content."

Paul is speaking here to '"have a contented mind."  Paul says that he had "learned" this.  By nature he had a mind as prone to impatience as others, but he had been in circumstances fitted to produce a different state of feeling.  Paul had ample experience and in his life of trials, he had acquired invaluable lessons on the subject.  He had time to reflect.
My friends we have time as well for refection, and we can know that there is grace enough in the gospel to enable us to bear trials. The spirit of impatience does no good, remedies no evil, and supplies no want; that God can provide for us in a way which we can not foresee.  A contented mind is a blessing, and is one of the fruits of religion in the soul.  It arises from the belief that God is right in all his ways.
Why should we be impatient, restless, discontented?  What evil will be remedied by it? What want supplied? What calamity removed?  "He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast" (Pro.15:15).  And one of the secrets of happiness is to have a contented mind and joy in serving God!  Heavenly Father, "Give us minds always contented with our present condition."  No prayer can be offered which will enter more deeply into all our happiness on earth.

Let Him Not Be Ashamed

                                         1 Peter 4:16
"Yet if any man suffer as a Christian,
                                  let him not be ashamed;"

To be "ashamed" of religion is to refuse to suffer on account of it.  We are to regard our religion in every way honorable.  We are not to be ashamed to be called a Christian; we are not to be ashamed of the doctrine taught by our religion. We most definitely are not to be ashamed of our Saviour whom we profess to love!  And we are not to be ashamed to fellowship with those who are true Christians, though they may be poor and despised.
A man should be ashamed only of that which is wrong.  He should glory in which is right.  In today's world Christians are still subjected to open reproach by the world on account of their religion; and even now in the middle east People are being killed because they are Christians. The same Spirit that was required and enjoined the early Christians, is the same one that is within us today as believers.  We are never to be ashamed of our religion.  "For it is better if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing" (1 Peter 3:17).

The Victor's Will Be Crowned

                                            2 Timothy 4:8
"Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
judge shall give me at that day:"

Paul was writing this letter from a prison in Rome, toward the close of his life (2 Tim. 1:8).  Even though Paul knew that is death was soon approaching, he was still telling the people to stand fast and be true to God.  He goes on to say there is a crown laid up for him all who believe in Christ. In those days all they knew about, or ever heard about a crown, was what the victor was crowed with during the Roman games. The greatest prize was the "Laurel Wreath."  To wear it was the greatest honor that could come to any athlete. But this crown in a few days would wither.  Paul knew that the crown that awaited him would never fade.
Paul knew what Nero's verdict would be, but he also knew what God's verdict would be.  The man whose life is dedicated to Christ has no verdict of men.  My friends there are "crowns" laid up for all who are "believers" in Christ and that love His appearing.  Don't worry about what men may say or judge you on.  Worry about what God sees in you, and what He is going to say?  I care not if the world condemns me, as long as I hear my God say; "Well Done My Child, Welcome Home."

Kindle Up As A Fire!

                                              2 Timothy 1:6
"Wherefore I put thee in remembrance
that thou stir up the gift of God"

How many times have you woke up in the morning, dreading to face the day; but the first thing you say is  "another day another dollar?" But when you really need help, you say; "Lord, just help me get through this day!" Your not the only person to speak these words. I have said the exact words, and I'm sure many others have as well.  And there will be more of us repeating those same words this very day!  "It's time to stir up the gift of God!"  The gift of grace; an undeserved benefit from God (Rom 1:11; 1 Tim 4:14).  Through God's grace we have been established, to the end. Other words a "believer" is made secure to the end.
So let's "kindle up" as a fire!  It is not uncommon to compare piety to a flame or a fire, and the image is one that is obvious when we speak of causing that to burn more brightly.  We must use all proper means to keep the flame of pure religion in the soul burning, and more particularly our zeal in what we were called to do.  It is the responsibility of man himself to keep the religion of the heart warm and glowing.  However rich the gifts which God has bestowed upon us, they do not grow of their own accord, but need to be cultivated by our own personal care.

A Good Soldier Of Jesus Christ

                                             2 Timothy 2:3
                             "Thou therefore endure hardness, as
a good soldier of Jesus Christ."

There is grace enough in Jesus for every need, but we must make use of it ourselves. We can expect nothing less than hardship, since life is a battlefield. Our one aim should be to please Him who chose us to be soldiers. In order to be all that he would have us be, we must avoid entangling ourselves in the conditions around us. We must live our life as wanting to be the best warrior in God's army in which at any moment we could be called to stand with Christ. The less encumbered we are, the more easily shall we be able to execute the least command of our Great Captain. How high an honor it is to be enrolled among His soldiers!

"He loses good deeds by evil acts, who takes account of his good works, which he hides before his eyes, and forgets the faults which creep in between; or who, after what is good, returns to what is vain and evil."  "Money is seen in the pierced bag, when it is put in, but when it is lost, it is not seen. And those who look how much they give, but do not weigh how much they gain wrongly, also cast their rewards into a pierced bag.                                           Titus 2:7
"In all things showing thyself a pattern of
                         good works: in doctrine showing
                         uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,"

There are three qualities in which a person must have and maintain. They must be living in faith. If a person lives really close to Christ, the passing of the years and the experiences of life will make their faith even stronger. The years must teach us, not to trust God less but to trust him more.
We must be truly in love. It may well be that the greatest danger of age is that it should drift into being critical and fault finding. Sometimes the years take kindly sympathy away. It is fatally possible for a person to become so settled in their ways that they begin unconsciously to resent all new thoughts and ways. But the years ought to bring, not increasing intolerance but increasing sympathy with the views and mistakes of others.
We must be healthy in fortitude. The years should temper us like steel, so that we can bear more and more, and emerge more and more the conqueror over life's troubles. Let us not forget;  "that Jesus Christ is The Rock, on which we stand!
        Amen!!

Glory Not In What You Do For Others

                                          Matthew 6:4
"And thy Father which seeth in secret
                           himself shall reward them openly."

One of our most rewarding Christian duties is to; show kindness, help in times of need and to  express Christ' love toward others. My friends, this is not a challenge from me to you, to jump out there and start stacking rewards up. Why not? Because when we start taking notice of our deeds, God takes less notice of them.
When we begin to take notice of our deeds, even though others may benefit, these deeds are dead to God, because they have became self- served. They where done for our own personal gain, (IE) a position in Church, something to brag on, or just to make us feel good.
All above are the wrong answers! Deeds are done from the heart of a man. A man need not search for deeds, God will place them in front of you. God will not announce it to you, but you will know that God has put something in front of you to act upon. Here is the simplest way I know to respond to God on this. Since He told you in "secret" What ever God puts before you, He would like you to kept it between you and Him. Then what ever God put before you will be blessed on both ends. Remember let us not serve our God just for rewards; Let's serve Him because we Love Our God.
        Amen!!
