Need A Sign

                                                             Matthew 16:4
"A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh  after a sign"

Here we have a conflict:  Christ was tempted by the enemy in verses 1-5.  See how the Pharisees and Sadducees, who were enemies, united to tempt Christ!  In (Luke 23:6-12) Pilate and Herod were   "made friends" for the same reason.  In asking for a sign "from heaven" they were discrediting His miracles, in which they considered to be signs upon earth. Perhaps they wanted fire from heaven, as Elijah had done; or bread from heaven, as Moses had done.
Jesus describes their spiritual condition:  (1) They could interpret things physical and worldly, but not things spiritual. (2) They were wicked, because they tempted God. (3) They were adulterous because they had forsaken the true God for their empty religion. Like the religious people of today! Notice He points again to His death, burial, and resurrection, and to His ministry to the Gentiles.
So are you the type of Christian that looks for signs, or close your eyes, open your bible and say: Lord show me what I need to read today. And then were your finger lands; is were you start reading.  If this is you than you are a sign seeker! But don't feel real bad, most newborn Christians do the same thing. But at some point and soon I would hope; your faith will kick in and you want need any more signs. Just Faith in our Lord and Saviour "Jesus Christ".  Let us go and walk in Faith and Truth together.    AMEN!!!
