The Past

                                           Deuteronomy 1:21
"Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee,
                                 fear not, neither be discouraged"

Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it.  Change is inevitable, but real spiritual progress consists of building on lessons we have learned in the past as we move into the future.  If we are satisfied with our present condition, no matter how pleasant it may be, it would be impossible to improve our condition.  When Israel had conquered the lands ruled by Sihon and Og, this new generation faced a new challenge.  The tribes of Reuben, Gad and half of Manasseh decided to settle in this place and accept it as all that God wanted to give them.  They were satisfied with what God had gave them in the present; and not remembering the past, because of the age gape in all the tribes.
Today's Christians don't have room to talk!  As soon as we reach a short range goal we tend to be satisfied and have no drive or heart to go for a long rang goal. Why?  Because we don't remember or know the past in reference  to our goals.  Don't get me wrong; I am not saying live in the past, but know and remember the past in order to go forward with positive results.  We do not need new truth for a new day.  Truth is eternal and never changes.  What we need is a new knowledge and dedication to the truth of God that is always present in every age.
