1 Corinthians 4:3
"But with me it is a very small thing
that I should be judged of you, or
of man's judgment: yea, I
judge not mine own self"
Paul was using Apollos within the Corinthian congregation, and the relationship was intended to be an example for them to follow in setting of the rules. Paul used himself as an example as a servant of Christ, all that Paul had done for Christ never made him think highly of himself, it only made him stronger in Christ. "Paul stress to them what ever their position in the church, not to think of them self highly. And whatever power they may yield or prestige he may enjoy, he still remains the servant of God.
My friends, have you ever been in a leadership position in your Church. If so, Lets recall some memory. First the authority was challenged. Then your actions were judged by your peers that had nothing to do with charge. That's what goes on when we all get in our own way, we start judging others, but close our ears to them.
We must face judgment of our fellow men. When we say it means nothing to me, there is a sense that we can not disregard from the judgment of our fellow men. But really the odd thing is that, in spite of mistakes, the judgement of our fellow men is often right. that is due to the fact that every man instinctively admires the basic qualities of honor, honesty and love. There are only two people who can tell you the truth about yourself: an enemy who has lost his temper and a friend who loves you dearly. But it is quite true, that we should never let the judgment of men deflect us from what we believe is right.
Amen!!
