Matthew 4:4
"It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone"
"But by every word that proceedeth out of the Mouth of God"
Right after Christ was declared to be the Son of God, and the Saviour of the world; he was tempted. No matter the great privileges, and special tokens of Divine favour, it will not secure any from being tempted. Christ was tempted three times by Satan, before he left Christ. Christ was tempted the same way we are today; therefore we must ensure the Holy Spirit witness to our being adopted as children of God. We must attack Satan back against all the suggestions of Evil that he lays in front of us. Don't worry we want be alone; Christ will be directed to the battle with us. But however; if we presume upon our own strength, and tempt Satan to tempt us, we provoke God to leave us to ourselves. Satan takes advantages of our outward condition.(the outer acts that we display).
The answer to our defense attack from Satan, should be the same as Christ. Christ answered all three temptations with; "It is written;" to set us an example. Christ appealed to what was written in the Scriptures. Now; even though we know that we have Christ to help us in time of temptation, let us not go out unaware and fall in the devils tricks and traps. Remember: if we resist the devil he will flee from us. But the soul that deliberates may become overcome by the temptation before them.
