Hebrews 6:19
"Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul"
I remember when I was on an evening cruise from Todendorf Germany to Denmark. As we started our voyage out to sea, the Captain came over the microphone and said, "Once we reach Denmark we will drop anchor for four hours, for those who wish to stay aboard you may do so, and he said with a chuckle; don't worry the ship will not float away it has a huge anchor."
As my friends and I enjoyed our visit to Denmark it never came across my mind about what the Captain had said earlier about the anchor. However a light did come to mind. That anchor was a fitting visual to the Scripture in Hebrews 6:19. Hope is our strong and trustworthy anchor for our soul, just like the ship's anchor was for it. There will be times in our lives when things around us gets rocky and unbalanced. If our hope is in the unbalanced things in our lives we will start drifting and soon become shipwrecked in sin. But as long as our hope is anchored in Jesus Christ, we will never be moved. Praise God!!!
