Matthew 6:13
"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen."
Why did the Lord teach His disciples to pray, "lead us not into temptation"? Does this in fact mean that God tempts people? NO!! Why, because when God allows one of His children to be tempted, it is for the purpose of proving to His child that he can rely on God's wisdom and strength. It is God's desire to give us victory over temptation and at the same time make us more experienced in the tactics of spiritual warfare against the devil. It is important to remember, that the actual enticement to sin is never generated by God; Because no one can ever truthfully say that God has tempted them to sin.
My Friends, There is a danger here, the danger that men might come to think of God as being confined to certain holy places and that he might forget that "the whole earth is the temple of God." We must pray in our Church; pray in our home; pray on our bed; commune with our own heart upon our bed; be still; and listen to God.
Amen!
