Hosea 12:6
"Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment,
and wait on thy God continually."
God calls Israel to examine the life of Jacob. The phrase "and by his strength he had power with God" refers to Jacob's attempt to use his physical strength to obtain blessing from God. This took place when he wrestled with God's angel at Penial (Gen. 32:30; cf. Hos. 12:4, 5). Jacob ultimately submitted to God's leading in his life and return to then place where he first had fellowship with God, Bethel (Gen. 28:16-22, cf. Hos. 12:4, 5). Jacob's "holding fast with a firm arm" and desiring God's blessing was what God wanted Israel to learn from his example.
My Friends, We as well can learn from Jacob's actions. God is still the same God now as He was in the beginning, and sin is still sin. The only thing that can change is the heart of man! Turn to Jesus Christ and "hold fast with a firm arm."
Amen!
