James 1:6
"But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.
For he that wavereth is like a wave of the
sea driven with the wind and tossed."
For a long time I had trouble accepting the connection between adversity
and growth. My problem, when I got right down to it, was faith. It
was hard for me to accept that while God brings us to
maturity that He is willing to let us suffer. From God's outlook, adversity
is a small price to pay for the benefits of spiritual growth. The
issue was whether or not I was going to take God at His word and begin
viewing adversity from that perspective.
I think my wavering back and forth is exactly what James was talking about when he said we must ask "in faith." That is, when God reveals the answer, and we accept it.

Amen!
