Luke 3:23
"And Jesus himself began to
be about thirty years of age"
The Gospels rarely mention how old Jesus was when He experienced the various events of His life and Ministry. Luke tells us that Jesus was thirty years of age. The only thing different about that year is this! That year the Kingdom of God began. It began quietly like a lump of yeast in a measure of meal. A thirty-year-old carpenter showed up at the Jordon River and was baptized.
The mystery of why Jesus waited until He was thirty is still unknown today? The best guess is that Joseph's early death left Mary with a house full of of young children. Jesus being the first child took over the responsibilities of the care of His Mother Mary, and His siblings, by working as a carpenter as He was taught by Joseph His Father.
Perhaps the most important thing to take from Luke 3:23 was not how old Jesus was but that he placed family in such a high priority. He would not abandon His mother with no means to be able to support His siblings. Does this mean that Jesus put aside God's Kingdom while he took care of the family? No! Apostle Paul said that Jesus came to earth when the time was right (Gal 4:4). This can only mean that Jesus didn't postpone the Kingdom until His family was cared for, but that a part of God's plan for the ages included His family.
Just as Christ' time was marked; it is good to mark events that change our world as well. Today; make a habit of measuring the footprints of Christ in your life. When were you saved? Was it your twentieth year? Was it your sixteenth year? When did Jesus come to you and give you His exact calling for your life? Did you mark down the date? We all should be recording the events in our New Birth. Why? Because, The acts of God in your life are the footprints of His Son, Jesus Christ. Why not determine today, that you will keep a journal. Give It a Title. My Journal is Titled; "The Footprints of Christ In My Life." Just writing and thinking where you were and where you are now will make you shout with Joy!! AMEN!!
May God Bless You
And Your Families
