Jeremiah 2:19
"Thine own wickedness shall correct thee,
and thy backsliding shall reprove thee:"
Is the soul of man a slave unto sin? No! It is not; however we bind our soul's liberty, and enslave it in lust and passions. When this happens we destroy the glory and strength that God has bestowed on us. Than shortly after the soul wonders and begins departing from the Lord. "God have mercy on our wondering souls."
God gives us a way to correct this and His application is this; "Repent of thy sin, that thy correction may not be thy ruin." What do we as Christians want to dabble in forbidden pleasure's or go on pursuits of covetousness of sin. Mankind is oftentimes as much under their unbridled desires and sinful lust as a wild beast.
Here again we see God's application to this problem at work once more. He says; "and thy backsliding shall reprove thee." The Lord warns us and tells us not to weary ourselves in pursuits which only bring distress and misery. We must acknowledge and except the mercy of God, and believe that to be sufficient for the pardon of our sins. We must not neglect the grace of God, but believe that His grace is sufficient to subdue our corruptions, no matter how long or strong they might be.
