Totally To God

Luke 16:10
"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful
also in much: and he that is unjust in the
least is unjust also in much"

A mans way of fulfilling a small task, is the best proof of his fitness or unfitness to be trusted with a bigger task. That is clearly true of earthly things. No man will be advanced to higher office until he has given proof of his honesty and ability in a smaller position. But Jesus extends the principle to eternity. He says, "Upon earth you are in charge of things which are not really yours. You cannot take them with you when you die. They are only lent to you. You are only a steward over them. They cannot, in the nature of things, be permanently yours." On the other hand, in heaven we will get what is really and eternally ours. And what we get in heaven depends on how we use the things on earth. What we will be given as our very own, will depend on how we use the things of which we are only stewards of in this world.
The lesson here is, that material possessions, should be used to cement the friendships, where the real and permanent value of life lies. A man's true wealth would consist not in what he kept, but in what he gave away. Possessions are not in themselves a sin, but they are a great responsibility, and the man who uses them to help his friends has gone far to relieve that responsibility.
My Friends, Serving God can never be a part time job. Once a man chooses to serve God every moment of his time and every ounce of his energy belongs to God. God is the most exclusive of masters. We either belong to Him totally or not at all. I Choose Totally To God!
Amen!

There Is Still Time

Luke 12:56-57
"Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth;
but how is it that ye do not discern this time? Yea, and
why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?"

When the Jews saw the clouds forming in the west, over the Mediterranean Sea, they knew rain was on the way. When the south wind blew from the desert they knew strong wind was coming. But those who were so wise to read the signs of the sky could not, or would not, read the signs of the times. If they had, they would have seen that the kingdom of God was on the way. Jesus used a very vivid illustration. He said, "When you are threatened with a law-suit, come to an agreement with your adversary before the matter comes to court, for if you do not you will have imprisonment to endure and a fine to pay." The assumption is that the defendant has a bad case which will inevitably go against him. "Every man," Jesus implied, "has a bad case in the presence of God; and if he is wise, he will make his peace with God while yet there is time."
My Friends, Jesus and all his great servants have always been obsessed with the urgency of time. There are some things a man cannot afford to put off; above all, making his peace with God. "Now Is The Time; Make Peace With God."
Amen!

How Will God Find Us?

Luke 12:20
"But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night
thy soul shall be required of thee: then
whose shall those things be, which
thou hast provided?"

There is an old saying; "The more a man drinks the thirstier he becomes." And so long as a mans attitude is like that his desire will always be to get more, and that is not the Christian way. Now
Jesus refused to be mixed up in anyones disputes about money. "And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me," (Luke 12:13).  But out of that request there came to Jesus an opportunity to lay down what His followers attitude to material things should be. He had something to say, both to those who had an abundant supply of material possessions and to those who did not have an abundant supply.
Here was a self centered person, " When this man had more than he needed of goods the one thing that never entered his head was to give any away and help others." His whole attitude was the very reverse of Christianity. Instead of denying himself he aggressively affirmed himself; instead of finding his happiness in giving, he wanted to tear down his barns and build bigger ones.
My Friends, No man can tell the day or the hour when eternity will invade time and our summons will come. How, then, would we like God to find us? We would like him to find us with our work completed. Life for so many of us is filled with loose ends. There are things undone and things half done; things put off and things not even attempted. However Good men and women have always had the sense of a task that is started must be finished.
Amen!

Reborn To A Living Hope

1 Peter 1:3
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten
us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead,"

This passage begins with the idea of rebirth; the Christian is a man who has been reborn; begotten again by God to a new kind of life. It means that, when a man becomes a Christian, there comes into his life a change so radical that the only thing that can be said is that life has begun all over again for him. This idea of rebirth runs all through the New Testament. Let us try to understand what it says about it.
The Christian rebirth happens by the will and by the act of God, "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:13). Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures." (1 James1:18)
It is not something which a man achieves any more than he achieves his physical birth. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ the Christian is called into a new relationship with God, in which the sins of the past are forgiven and he is pledged to obedience in the time to come. It is in the purpose of God that the Christian is called. It is by the work of the Holy Spirit that his life is made holy towards God. It is by the sprinkling of the blood of Christ that he is cleansed from past sin and dedicated to future obedience to God.
When a man is reborn, it is to a living hope (1 Peter 1:3). The Christian characteristic is hope. That hope came from two things. The Christian felt that he had been born, not of corruptible, but of incorruptible seed, "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Peter 1:23). He has the very seed of God in him and, therefore, in him a life which neither time nor eternity could destroy.
My Friends, If you claim yourselves to be a Christian, Your rebirth came from the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:3). And now you have forever beside you, even more, one with you "Jesus Christ" who had conquered even death and, therefore, there is no need to be lonely and afraid anymore.
Amen!

Beliefs Are Not Competitions

Luke 9:49
"And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting
out devils in thy name; and we forbad him,
because he followeth not with us."

The conviction that our beliefs and our methods alone are correct has been the cause of more tragedy and distress in the church than almost any other thing. One thing we must remember is, none of us read and understand the Scriptures the same. The Gospel Of Jesus Christ is not a Battle Ground for Beliefs.
My Friends, There are many ways to God. He has His own secret stairway into every heart. He fulfills Himself in many ways; and no man or church has a monopoly of His truth. This is important our tolerance must be based not on indifference but on love. We ought to be tolerant not because we could not care less; but because we look at the other person with eyes of love.
Amen!

Christ' Decisive Step

Luke 9:33
"And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus,
Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three
tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and
one for Elias: not knowing what he said."

What happened on the Mount of Transfiguration we can never know, but we do know that something tremendous did happen. Jesus had gone there to seek the approval of God for the decisive step He was about to take. There Moses and Elijah appeared to Him. Moses was the great lawgiver of the people of Israel; Elijah was the greatest of the prophets.
Jesus could set out to Jerusalem now, certain that at least one little group of men knew who He was, certain that what He was doing was the consummation of all the life and thought and work of His nation, and certain that God approved of the step that He was taking.
My Friends, Christ's transfiguration was a example of that glory in which He will come to judge the world; and was an encouragement to His disciples to suffer for Him. Prayer is a transfiguring, transforming duty, which makes a persons face shine. Our Lord Jesus, even in His transfiguration, was willing to speak concerning His death and sufferings. In our greatest glories on earth, let us remember, that life as we know it will not continue in this world. What need we have to pray to God for quickening grace. The disciples were witnesses of this sign from heaven, even though they sleep, when they became awake, they were able to give a full account of what happened. Christians, We must awake and do our duty and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ without ceasing.
Amen!

Don't Get Shut Out

Luke 13:24
"Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many,
I say unto you, will seek to enter in,
and shall not be able"

The parable tells us of the gospel of a second chance.  It is always Jesus' way to give a man chance after chance. Peter, Mark and Paul all gladly had witnessed to that. God is kind to the man who falls and rises again.
The parable also makes it quite clear that there is a final chance. If we refuse chance after chance, if God's appeal and challenge come again and again in vain, that day finally comes, not when God has shut us out, but when we by deliberate choice have shut ourselves out. God save us from that!
My Friends, There are those who think that just because they are members of a Church and call themselves Christians, all is well. But the man who lives in a Christian environment is not necessarily a Christian. He may be enjoying all its benefits; he certainly is living on the Christian benefits which others before him have built up; but that is no reason for sitting back content thinking that all is well. This challenges all of us, "What did you do to initiate all this? What have you done to preserve and develop it?" We cannot live on borrowed goodness. "When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:" (Luke 13:25).

Lead Us Not Into Temptation

Matthew 6:13
"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen."

Why did the Lord teach His disciples to pray, "lead us not into temptation"? Does this in fact mean that God tempts people? NO!! Why, because when God allows one of His children to be tempted, it is for the purpose of proving to His child that he can rely on God's wisdom and strength. It is God's desire to give us victory over temptation and at the same time make us more experienced in the tactics of spiritual warfare against the devil. It is important to remember, that the actual enticement to sin is never generated by God; Because no one can ever truthfully say that God has tempted them to sin.
My Friends, There is a danger here, the danger that men might come to think of God as being confined to certain holy places and that he might forget that "the whole earth is the temple of God."  We must pray in our Church; pray in our home; pray on our bed; commune with our own heart upon our bed; be still; and listen to God.
Amen!

Retaliation

Matthew 5:38
"Ye have heard that it hath been said,
An eye for an eye, and
a tooth for a tooth:"

The law of tit for tat, "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth;" was in fact the beginning of mercy. Its original aim was definitely the limitation of vengeance. In the very earliest days the vendetta and the blood feud were characteristic of tribal society. If a man of one tribe injured a man of another tribe, then at once all the members of the tribe of the injured man were out to take vengeance on all the members of the tribe of the man who committed the injury. And the vengeance desired was nothing less than death. This sounds kind of familiar within our generation. We don't live in a tribal society, but a growing gang society.
This was never a law which gave a private individual the right to extract vengeance; it was always a law which laid down how a judge in the law court must assess punishment and penalty, " And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;" (Deut. 19:18) This law was never intended to give the individual person the right to indulge even in the vengeance of tit for tat. It was always intended as a guide for a judge in the assessment of the penalty which any violent or unjust deed must receive.
Ancient ethics were based on the law of tit for tat. It is true that the law was a law of mercy; it is true that it was a law for a judge and not for a private individual; it is true that it was never literally carried out; it is true that there were accents of mercy speaking at the same time. But Jesus obliterated the very principle of that law, because retaliation, however controlled and restricted, has no place in the Christian life.
My Friends, A Christian never thanks of his rights, but of his duties and not of his privileges, but of his responsibilities .Jesus compelled us to go one mile; and in some cases, we must willingly go two miles for a brother or sister in Christ.
Amen!

Aim At The Glory Of God

Matthew 5:13
"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good
for nothing, but to be cast out, and to
be trodden under foot of men"

Christ sent forth His disciples, by their lives and doctrines to season it with knowledge and grace. If they are not such as they should be, they are as salt that has lost its savor. If a man can take up the profession of Christ, and yet remain graceless, no other doctrine, no other means, can make him profitable. Our light must shine, by doing such good works as men may see. What is between God and our souls, must be kept to ourselves; but that which is of itself open to the sight of men, we must study to make suitable to our profession, and to God.
My Friends, We all know that there are certain people in whose company it is easy to be good; and that also there are certain people in whose company it is easy to be relaxed. There are certain people in whose presence a tainted story might be readily told, and there are other people to whom no one would dream of telling such a tale. The Christian must be the cleansing antiseptic in any society in which he happens to be; he must be the person who by his presence defeats corruption and makes it easier for others to be good.  "We Must Aim At The Glory Of God."

He's Alive

Matthew 28:6
"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."

As we read this story of the first two people in the world to be confronted with the fact of the empty tomb and the Risen Christ, three things spring out at us. We are urged to believe:  Something like this is hard to believe, and to good to be true. But the Angel reminded them and us as well of the promise of Jesus. It was confirmed by the empty tomb. However; it is shameful, that still today, so many people feel that the promise's of Christ is not true. "We can take Christ at His word and believe or spend eternity in Hell, that's the bottom line!"
We are urged to share. When we ourselves have discovered the fact of the Risen Christ, our first duty is to proclaim it and to share it with others. "Go, tell!" Is the first thing that comes to the man who has himself discovered the wonder of Jesus Christ.
We are urged to rejoice. The Risen Christ, met His disciples saying, All hail.  And  they came and held Him by His, feet and worshiped Him. "They Rejoiced!" The man who has met the Risen Lord must live for ever in the joy of his presence, from which nothing can part him any more.
My Friends, On this Easter Holiday, Let us not forget the what and why of our rejoicing. I know there is decorations of Easter in most of our yards and a lot of Cross's being displayed. And with this COVID-19 it might not feel like it usually does when we celebrate our Risen Lord. But the fact is, nothing is gonna change my heart on this day. Because this day is the day we celebrate our freedom from the second death through our Risen Lord!
Amen!

Shame For Sin

Ezra 9:6
"And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my
face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased
over our head, and our trespass is grown
up unto the heavens."

When the heart has been made black with sin, grace makes the face red with blushing. " I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God:" (Ezra 9:6). There are several things about sin that cause shame: Sin makes us guilty: Adam never blushed in the time of innocence, but when he had deflowered his soul by sin, then he was ashamed. Sin has tainted our blood. We are guilty against the Crown of Heaven.
In sin there is unthankfulness: We have sinned against God when He has given us no cause. Whenever has God wearied us, unless His mercies have wearied us? And to abuse the kindness of so good a God. "God I Ask For Mercy For All Believers Today.
Sin puts Christ to Shame: Should we not be ashamed? The Jews arrayed Him in purple; they put a reed in His hand, spat in His face, and in His greatest agonies reviled Him. Here was the shame of the cross. He was the Lamb of God. Our sins put Christ to shame, and shall they not put us to Shame?
My Friends, Be assured, the more we are ashamed of sin now, the less we shall be ashamed at Christ's coming. If the sins of the godly be mentioned at the day of judgment, it will not be to shame them, but to magnify the riches of God's grace in pardoning them. Indeed, the wicked shall be ashamed at the last day. They shall sneak and hang down their heads, but the saints shall then be as without spot. "That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish," (Eph. 5:27)

Confession Of Sin

Isaiah 53:5-6
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes
we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have
turned every one to his own way; and the LORD
hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

Sorrow vents itself at the eyes by weeping and at the tongue by confession. Confession is self accusing, "And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house,"(2 Sam. 24:17) Most of us know that no man accuses himself, but finds it easy to accuse others. When we come before God, we must accuse ourselves. And the truth is, that by self accusing we prevent Satan's accusing. When a sinner accuses himself; he sits in judgment and passes sentence upon himself.
A true confession leaves heart wounding impressions on a man,"it is one thing to confess sin and another thing to feel sin."  Our hearts must go along with our confessions. The  hypocrite confesses sin, but loves it like a thief who confesses to stolen goods, yet loves stealing. Some run from the confessing of sin to the committing of sin. The bottom line is, we must confess our sins and not to continue to still do them.
My Friends, what a vast difference between the first covenant and the second! In the first covenant if you commit sin you die; in the second covenant, if you confess sin you shall have mercy. In the first covenant no surety was allowed; but under the covenant of grace, if we confess, Christ will be our surety. There is no way to salvation without a humble heart felt confession. So throw out the poison of sin today by confession, and "this day salvation will come to you and your house."
Amen!

Sorrow For Sin

Zechariah 12:10
"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom
they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth
for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one
that is in bitterness for his firstborn."

Martyrs shed blood for Christ, and penitents shed tears for sin, "And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment,"(Luke 7:38). This sorrow for sin is not superficial. It is called in scripture a breaking of the heart, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise," (Ps. 51:17).  O how desirable is our Saviour to a troubled soul! Christ is Christ indeed, and mercy is mercy indeed. Until the heart is full of remorse it is not fit for Christ.
My Friends, Godly sorrow shows itself; when  Christian's knows that they have been saved from hell and shall never be damned, and yet still they grieve for sinning against that free grace which has pardoned them. As our sin is ever before us, so God's promise must be ever before us.
Amen!

Sight Of Sin

Acts 26:18
"To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light,
and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may
receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance
among them which are sanctified
by faith that is in me."

The great thing noted in Luke 15:17, The prodigal's son repentance, "he came to himself." He saw himself a sinner and nothing but a sinner. Before a man can come to Christ he must first come to himself. A man must first recognize and consider what his sin is, and know the plague of his heart before he can be humbled for it. "God said, let there be light:" So we know that was the first thing that God created was light. And the first thing in a penitent is illumination, "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:" (Eph. 5:8).
Our eyes are made for two things, seeing and weeping. Therefore sin first must be see before it can be wept for. Where there is no sight of sin there can be no repentance. Many of us can see faults in others but none in ourselves. Our body and soul live together, work together, but are we acquainted with ourselves?
My Friends, when sin is seen deal with; not your way but God's way. Let us not walk around with a veil over our head to hide our face. When we become blind to sin in us and around us, the devil can and will move in quickly, because men have enough of insight into worldly matters already, "Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened," (Zech. 11:17).

A Decree Made

Daniel 6:26
"I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble
and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and
stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be
destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end"

We notice, that though Daniel was now very old, yet he had remained faithful to his religion. It is for the glory of God, that we no matter our age, we who profess to be Believers, conduct ourselves so that our most watchful enemies may find no occasion to throw blame our way.
The best way to have a good night, is to keep a good conscience. We are sure of what the king doubted. He doubted that Daniel would be protected by his living God. Daniel was kept perfectly safe, because he believed in his God. Those who boldly and cheerfully trust in God to protect them will find Him, in time of need.
My Friends, If we live in the fear of God, and walk according to that rule, peace shall be upon us. The kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever, are the Lord's; but many are employed in making known His wonderful works to others, who themselves remain strangers to His saving grace. May we be doers, as well as believers of His word, least at the last we should be found to have deceived ourselves. Let us commit our lives and souls unto God, in well doing. We cannot place full confidence even in men whom we faithfully serve; but believers may, in all cases, be sure of God's Divine Favor.
Amen!

God's Message On The Wall

Daniel 5:4-5
"They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron,
of wood, and of stone. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand,
and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of
the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote."

God struck terror upon Belshazzar and his lords. God's written word is enough to put the proudest, boldest sinner to his knees. What we see of God, is the part of the hand that writes in the book of the  Scriptures, and this should fill us with thoughts concerning, that part which we do not see. If this be the finger of God, what is the power of His arm when made bare, and all God's Majesty?
We all know that the king's guilty conscience told him that he had no reason to expect any good news from heaven. God can, in a moment, make the heart of the stoutest sinner to tremble; because we must let loose our own thoughts, for they will give us trouble enough.
My Friends, No bodily pain can equal the inward agony that holds on to the sinner in the midst of , carnal pleasures, with boastfulness display and worldly vanity. However; Sometimes terrors cause a man to flee to Christ for pardon and peace; but many cry out for fear of wrath, who are not humbled for their sins, and who seek relief but for a short time. We all who spread the Gospel Of Jesus Christ must remember; The ignorance and uncertainty concerning the Holy Scriptures, shown by many who call themselves wise, only tend to drive sinners to despair, as the ignorance of these wise men of Nebuchadnezzar's time did.

Diligently Seek Blessings

Daniel 4:37
"Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven,
all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and
those that walk in pride he is able to abase."

Whatever outward affliction God is pleased to lay upon us, we have cause to bear it patiently, and to be thankful that He continues with us. Yet if the Lord should see fit to keep a sinner from multiplying crimes, or a believer from dishonoring His name, even the dreadful prevention would be far better to the evil conduct. God is The Righteous Judge.
My Friends, When God gives us general warnings of His judgments we should strive to understand His mind in them, and to hear the Lord's voice guiding us. When God's suffering children cry to God, He will hear. Let us diligently seek blessings which can never be taken from us, and especially beware of pride and forgetfulness of God.
