Haggai 1:4,5
"Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses,
and this house lie waste? Now therefore thus saith
the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways."
Haggai's message was a stirring to challenge to the people through their political and spiritual leaders, Zerubbabel and Joshua. The people were too interested with the building and decoration of their own houses, while doing nothing for God's house. Haggai twice says "consider your ways." My Friend's, This is a message in which we all should ponder on deeply within our hearts. Some may ask why? I say this because "considers your ways," literally means to "put upon your heart" and it speaks of a firm decision.
God told His people that neglect of the temple would result in His judgment on them. My Friend, this message is also telling us not to neglect God's Temple within us. Our self-centered efforts cannot satisfy, because God is not going to bless. Our first priority should be that God be glorified, and this should be evident in the life of believers today.
Amen!
