Psalm 138:8
"The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me:
thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever: forsake
not the works of thine own hands"
When He puts His hand to the salvation of our soul, He pledges Himself to perfect the good work until the day of Jesus Christ, "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" (Phil. 1:6). Trust God, let Him know all disappointments and heartaches. He will wipe away all tears, explain all mysteries, and place the top stone on the structure of your life.
Scripture
warns us that there is a danger in taking credit for our achievements in life.
In the process of focusing on how great we are, we forget how great God is. "And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day." (Deut 8:17–18).
We need to acknowledge the Source of our success and blessings. God alone is the
force behind our success. "This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." (Zech. 4:6).
David
longed for the day when everyone in the world would recognize this great truth
and all kings would praise God and so, he led the way by setting an
example. Let us do the same. Praise God in front of your friends, your family,
and your community. Most importantly, praise God inside the deepest parts of
your own soul.
Amen!
